learning journey improvement

When a learning journey tile is locked by a prerequisite tile, the user must have at least one item from the prerequisite tile assigned and completed before the next tile is unlocked.

This creates an issue when the user has no courses assigned in the prerequisite tile.

For example:

  • Tile 1 contains Courses A, B, and C.

  • Tile 2 is configured to unlock only after at least one of the courses from Tile 1 has been met.

  • If the user is not assigned Courses A, B, or C, they have no way to satisfy the prerequisite because there is nothing for them to complete.

  • As a result, Tile 2 remains permanently locked, even though the user has no applicable content in Tile 1.

Expected Behaviour

If a user has no learning items assigned within a prerequisite tile, that tile should be treated as satisfied for that user, allowing them to progress to the next learning journey tile.

Users should only be required to complete content in a prerequisite tile when they actually have learning items assigned within that tile.

Great news — this idea has been implemented! 🎉

When a user has no learning items assigned within a prerequisite tile, that tile is now automatically treated as satisfied — allowing them to progress to the next tile without being permanently blocked.

If you believe any of your existing journeys may have been affected by this, we recommend republishing the journey to all users to trigger a full recalculation of the locked/unlocked statuses.

Thank you for the feedback! 😊
