Summary
When a Quoted Works order has Labour set to £0.00, it is functionally a Supply Only order. However, the system does not allow contractors to complete the expected dispatch action.
Current System Behaviour
For Quoted Works orders where Labour = £0.00:
Engineers cannot be allocated (correct behaviour).
Works cannot be scheduled (correct behaviour).
After authorisation, the order cannot be edited (expected).
The only logical contractor action should be to dispatch goods.
However:
The Dispatch option is only available within the Supply workflow
(Current Orders → All Orders → Supply tab → Delivery Due).
Quoted Works (PPO Due) orders do not enter this workflow.
Contractors are therefore limited to adding Notes or Attachments only.
Issue
The system recognises the order as Supply Only (because Labour = £0.00),
but does not provide the required dispatch functionality.
This creates a workflow gap.
Business Impact
Contractors cannot progress the order independently.
Increased reliance on Client intervention.
Unnecessary operational friction.
Reduced visibility of dispatch status.
Inconsistent handling of Supply Only orders depending on originating workflow.
Suggested Improvement
For Quoted Works orders where Labour = £0.00:
Either:
Automatically route the order into the Supply workflow upon authorisation,
or
Enable Dispatch functionality for Contractors directly within the Quoted Works view when Labour = £0.00.
This change would:
Align system logic with functional behaviour.
Remove unnecessary Client dependency.
Improve clarity and contractor usability.
Ensure consistent handling of Supply Only orders.
This would be a great feature
Great idea!
