Compliance Reporting for National Living Wage


Currently, employers are required to ensure that all employees receive at least the National Living Wage (NLW) applicable to their age group. A common compliance risk arises when an employee has a birthday that moves them into a higher NLW bracket. If their pay rate is not reviewed and updated promptly, the business risks non-compliance with employment law.


Currently, this process often relies on manual monitoring by HR or payroll teams, which increases the risk of oversight and error. With large teams and multiple birthdays each month, this becomes time-consuming and vulnerable to mistakes.


Idea to Introduce a Compliance Reporting Tool:

  • Flags employees approaching a birthday that would change their NLW eligibility.

  • Highlights whether their current pay rate already meets or exceeds the upcoming NLW threshold.

  • Provides a clear action list for HR or payroll to update rates where required.

  • Allows exportable/downloadable reports for audit and compliance purposes.

    Hi Zoe, thanks so much for your feedback! We’ve recently introduced functionality in Rotaready Evo that flags employees approaching key birthday milestones requiring a pay rate change, as well as alerts for anyone currently violating the national minimum wage - these appear as Evo feed notifications.

    You can also use Copilot to generate summaries of this information, including exportable tables and charts for easier reporting.
