Holiday accrual to be stated and bookable based on scheduled rota hours and not hours that have been worked.

Current issue:

  • When a new staff member starts their contract, they will already have holidays that have been agreed with the line manager but without allowing managers to overspend, it's not possible to input the holiday hours.

  • When an end date is known for a fixed term or seasonal staff member, you know when their holiday has to be used by, but if they have no accrued it at that time then you can't input it.

Dependencies:

  • It's noted that holiday allowance is based on worked hours that have been signed off only.

Proposal:

  • That scheduled hours on the rota can be used to predict someone's holiday accrual when on a fixed term. - It is often known roughly how many hours per week an employee is likely to work. By inputting a draft rota, if holiday accrual could be based on that then it would mean managers could more accurately predict holiday accrual.

Please note that we've previously made a similar request for a solution to this issue based on adding an end date onto an employees current engagement so the prediction can be calculated using that date, but this still doesn't fix the issue at the start of a contract when there is no data on that employee since the calculation is based on worked hours and not scheduled.
