Better ResDiary > Reslynx Integration

We have both Reslynx PMS for our hotel rooms and ResDiary to manage our restaurant bookings. While these are linked, meaning if a hotel guest calls up to request a table we can make that booking through their room booking to drop into ResDiary, we find that a lot of hotel residents will go on our website to book their room and then return to the website afterwards to book their table separately.

Not only does this mean the guest is having to input their details multiple times to make their reservations, it also creates additional work for us as we need to check our ResDiary bookings every day to see if any hotel guests have booked in and manually link their table bookings to their room reservation. It also skews our booking figures as those guests appear as 'online' bookings rather than as resident bookings, making it more difficult for us to track how many resident guests are dining with us vs. non-resident.

It would be great if there was an option to add a box to our ResDiary widget asking guests if they are staying and allowing them to input their booking reference so that the two can link up automatically and remove the need for the guest to input all their details again.

Customer Challenge

Manually linking online ResDiary bookings is time consuming for our Reservations and Guest Relations teams and occasionally we can miss some bookings when guests have used different names/emails on their restaurant booking vs. room booking.

It is also less easy for our restaurant staff to easily identify resident guests as the bookings made online are a different colour compared to those made via the Reslynx room booking. Reservations/Guest Relations team also have to manually go in and add a note to any bookings to identify the guests as residents.

It is also more effort for our customers as they have to spend additional time making two separate reservations and inputting the same details twice.

Business Case

Allowing staying guests to identify themselves while making a booking via the ResDiary widget will create a more streamlined and cohesive experience for them.

It will also release our team from needing to manually link bookings together and avoid issues with missing guests who may have booked dinner, creating a more seamless process and removing situations where our reception staff may be asking a guest if they wish to make dining plans, when they potentially have already booked themselves.

From a restaurant perspective, it will allow the team to more easily see at a glance how many staying guests are dining with us and be better able to assess the percentage of staying guests choosing to dine with us vs. non-residents, enabling us to track any trends and business impact.
