Introduction of a predictive feature within ResDiary to estimate walk-in traffic. The goal is to help restaurants proactively manage table availability, staffing levels, and booking limits by forecasting the volume and timing of expected walk-in guests - based on historical data and live booking trends.

Business Case

Walk-ins make up a significant portion of traffic for many venues, especially during peak periods — yet most table management systems (including ResDiary) provide no forward-looking visibility into this segment. Restaurants are left to guess how much space to leave for walk-ins versus bookings, often leading to under-utilisation or turning away trade. A Walk-In Predictor would give managers a data-backed view of expected demand, improving decision-making around reservation limits, waitlist management, and shift planning. Over time, this feature could also feed into auto-suggestions for optimal pacing, smarter alerts, and revenue forecasting — aligning with our wider goal of intelligent automation.
