Allow “Attended” Status to mark event learning journey items Complete (No Assessment Events)

When managing Events, organisations often run two distinct types of session — those where learners are expected to sit and pass an assessment, and those where attendance alone is sufficient to demonstrate completion.

Today, CPL does not distinguish between these two scenarios when determining whether an event has been completed. This means that learners who have attended an event without an assessment are not consistently shown as complete within their Learning Journey or development plan, even though their attendance has been recorded correctly.

We want to introeuce the ability to define a completion status at the Event Type level. When creating an Event Type, administrators will be able to specify whether completion requires:

• Attendance — the learner simply needs to attend
• Passed — the learner needs to attend and pass an assessment

Once set, this configuration is inherited by all events created from that Event Type and will be used by the system to accurately determine completion across Learning Journeys and development plans.

This ensures that learner progression and reporting are always consistent — removing the need for manual workarounds and giving administrators confidence that the system reflects reality.
